Do PET bottles cause a health risk?

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

There are rumors circulating regarding the carcinogenic risk associated with consumption of water that has been exposed to sunlight in PET bottles. An in-depth study clarifies that concentrations of these substances are much lower (100-1000 times) of the limits defined by WHO, and in the same range as in natural waters. The authors conclude that SODIS water is safe for consumption.
